Design & Technology at our School

At our school, Design and Technology encourages children to develop creativity, problem‑solving skills and practical knowledge through purposeful, hands‑on learning. In Years 1–6, pupils follow a progressive programme of study based on PlanBee units, which build skills, knowledge and understanding year on year. Children learn to design, make and evaluate products using a range of materials, tools and techniques, while applying their learning from other subjects such as mathematics, science and computing.
In Reception, children develop early design and construction skills through continuous access to a range of construction and making resources throughout the day. These opportunities are embedded in both adult‑led activities and independent learning, allowing children to explore ideas, experiment, and develop confidence in creating and building as part of their everyday play and learning
