March Farook

W/C 2nd March 2026

This week we have had a real push on perfecting our handwriting using "Bubble Handwriting" - we need to ensure our letters are the correct height and formation, using the bubbles.

Mrs Francis' Maths group was really lucky to speak with children from Uganda who are supported by Edukid. We even got to meet Trevor who is a child that we have the privilege of supporting through his education by raising money through non-school uniform days. Did you know he now attends secondary school?! We enjoyed asking and answering questions and found out that some of their school days last from 6am until 5pm!

In Mrs Francis' Writing group, we have started to explore our new book "Escape from Pompeii." We have thought about the city of Pompeii before the volcanic eruption. Using the illustrations and narrative from the story, we created a cityscape and freeze frames before creating a setting description.

Not only this, but we have been given the pleasure of working with Martin again as he is delivering the Chance to Shine cricket programme for us. We have already been working on our skills, such as resilience, creativity and empathy.

Some of our Year 3/4 girls were lucky enough to take part in the Girls' Football Festival at Tarka Leisure Centre in honour of International Women's Day on Sunday. The girls were fantastic role models and I loved seeing them shine in this sport.
W/C 8th March 2026

This week has once again been jam-packed with activities.

In Writing, we have been continuing to read our book "Escape from Pompeii". During the story, Tranio and Liv were not taking the situation in the city seriously, putting their lives at risk.

We held a decision alley with the sentence opener, "If... then..." - Will Tranio and Liv start to take things seriously now? Just in case, we have written Agony Aunt-style letters addressed to the pair in a hope to change their minds.

On Thursday, we celebrated Ashleigh's Book Day where some of us came dressed in our comfies, swapped our books for new ones, "STOP[ped] EVERYTHING AND READ", plus we did a Where's Wally hunt around the school to answer a joke!
