W/C 4th May

This week, we have been exploring patterns in the world around us. We looked at our clothes, our classroom and then went outside on a pattern hunt, with Mrs Lowe.  The children found patterns in the fences, on drain covers and even on some cobwebs!  Here are some of the patterns that we found,,,

Our provision has been full of pattern matching games that have required the children to look closely and develop their visual discrimination skills.

We the moved onto learning about repeating patterns.  The children explored AB repeating patterns before moving onto ABC and ABBA patterns. The children then practised copying, continuing and creating patterns.

The 'Ash 2 Artists' have been out in force again. Look how beautifully our flower gardens turned out!

W/C 18th May

We have had a very busy week learning and remembering the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We sequenced the story to make sure we knew the main events. Then the children used puppets and masks to retell the story - making sure that we bellowed "fee fi fo fum" at the tops of our voices! They made their own puppets to bring home so that they could teach you the story as well!

We learnt that adjectives are words that describe things so we sorted words based on whether they described the giant, beanstalk, Jack or the harp!

The children also talked about which parts of the story the liked or disliked. Aren't these pictures of their favourites parts wonderful?
