May - Farook
W/C 5th May 2026
This week Mrs Francis' Writing Group have started their new book - The Baker by the Sea. We are getting well and truly stuck in to all things baking and plan to use a traditional recipe to make a coconut bun.

In PDW, we have had a debate about whether or not Judas did the right thing by betraying Jesus:

"I understand your point, but Jesus has been loyal to Judas. He deserves that same respect." - Alana
"Just think of all of the miracles that Jesus had performed. He isn't just a man; he is the son of God." - Charlotte
We also tried some of the food items involved in the Passover Feast, exploring their symbolism, particularly the bread and the wine. Can you tell which items were sweet and which ones were bitter?

In Collective Worship this week, we bid a fond farewell to Robin as he delivered his last worship before he prepares to leave Barnstaple to lead his own church in Plymouth. We are so thankful for the service he has shown us and our community.

To allow our Year 6 Team to use the upper end of the school during SATs, Farook Class have gone on "holiday" to the Year 1 intervention room. This has kept things a little more exciting being in a different room for the week. We will be moving back to our normal room over the course of the day on Friday, 15th May.
In order to fully immerse ourselves into our new book The Baker by the Sea, we did some traditional baking on Friday last week and boy, was it yummy!

We've continued to get stuck in to our story as we have researched job roles, written job advertisements using a range of sentences and explored figurative language for our descriptions.

In Maths, we have started working through our next unit: Fractions, whilst also focussing on our multiplication recall ahead of our Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) next month.
Here we are enjoying the sunshine on the field.

In Maths this week, we have been getting stuck into our Fractions unit - boy, is this hard, but here we are working together to find equivalent fractions - go us!

We enjoyed performing at Pentecost this week, performing our poem together! For those of you that joined us, I hope you enjoyed the service.

On Thursday, Robin came in to share with Year 3/4 all about Holy Communion and Maundy Thursday.

We also explored "Good" Kings and Queens and "Bad" Kings and Queens, and what type of leader Jesus would want to see on Earth. We nominated four rulers - two bad and two good - who gave us some rules that we had to abide by.

On Friday, we had the privilege of meeting the MAF team and even getting to sit in the plane. They do such great work, delivery aid and support to those that need it.
