ASH 2

Welcome to where the magic happens!

Ash 2 is our Reception classroom, which is led by our Early Years Lead, Miss Dawe. Our classroom environment is the living embodiment of joy, compassion, curiosity and fun; we work hard and we play hard!

Our creative and structured curriculum is rooted in high quality texts and experiences that inspire, encourage, support and challenge each individual child.

Alongside our daily phonics and maths sessions, continuous provision makes up the majority of the day in Ash 2. During this time the children self-select from a range of activities and resources that can be accessed independently throughout their child-initiated play.

The children have daily access to a designated outdoor learning environment that includes a mud kitchen, a garden area, sand, water and a large open space that is richly resourced with play materials that can be adapted and used in different ways.

Enhancements to the provision are made regularly to ensure it reflects the children's interests and developing skills. This enables learning to continue even when the children are not in direct contact with staff.

The children also benefit from engaging in adult led activities, either as a whole class, in small groups, pairs or individually. The adults in the environment are continually observing and providing appropriate next steps to build on their understanding and learning.
