Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

Dear Parents and Carers

As we move further into the autumn term, it has been another busy and successful week across the school.

Our Year 1 children had a fantastic visit to Caffyns Farm, where they enjoyed meeting the animals, learning about life on the farm and representing our school so wonderfully. The children were excellent ambassadors throughout the day, demonstrating our school values and receiving many positive comments on their behaviour and enthusiasm

This week also saw the launch of our daily toothbrushing programme. It has been wonderful to see the children embracing this new routine so positively. They are already getting to grips with the process and developing important habits that support good personal care and healthy lifestyles.

Letters have been sent home to Year 6 families regarding the Bikeability course taking place next Thursday and Friday. Please ensure application forms are returned promptly if your child would like to take part. There is still time to sign up here: http://consent.bikeability.org.uk/yep-quick-gulf

Finally, a gentle reminder that toys and personal items should not be brought into school unless specifically requested by a member of staff. Unfortunately, we cannot accept responsibility for items that are lost, damaged or broken. Thank you for your support in helping us avoid any unnecessary upset.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards,

The School Team

  • COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Here is what we've been learning about this week in Collective Worship ...

This week, we explored the big question: What is inequality? We learned that inequality happens when people do not have the same rights, opportunities or treatment as others. Through stories and discussions, we thought about how people's experiences can be very different depending on where they live, their circumstances and the opportunities available to them.

    Talk together

What makes life fair or unfair?
Why might some people have different opportunities from others?
How can we help people feel included and valued?
  • Reflect

Our children reflected on how inequality can be seen around the world and even within our own communities. We discussed how poverty can affect people's access to everyday essentials such as food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education.

As a Church school, we reflected on the belief that every person is made in God's image and deserves to be treated with dignity, kindness and respect. We considered how small acts of compassion can help make a positive difference in the lives of others.

    Try this week

Challenge yourselves to notice opportunities to make someone feel included, valued or supported.

    You could:

Invite someone to join in a game or conversation.
Show kindness to someone who seems lonely or upset.
Share, help or encourage someone without being asked.
Talk about ways your family can support local charities or community projects.
Together, we can help build a world where everyone feels respected, included and able to flourish.

  • STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of RESPECT this week ...

Respect

Show respect to everyone,

love other believers, and

honour authority

Ash 2: ARLO

This week, Arlo is our star because he never needs any reminders to be polite
and show respect to the Ashlings' adults and children. He is a wonderful role model for everyone!
Well done,

Rayner: XANDER and PHOEBE

Congratulations to Xander, our star of the week for showing respect throughout
the school environment. He has demonstrated a really positive attitude
every day, making excellent choices and setting a wonderful example for others.
Keep up the fantastic work, Xander!

Congratulations to Phoebe, our Star of the Week for showing excellent respect during our school trip to the farm.
She was kind, considerate and used lovely manners with all the farm staff who worked with us.
Phoebe was a fantastic ambassador for our school and should be very proud of herself.
Well done, Phoebe!

Jha: AAESHAH and KAYLA

Congratulations to Aaeshah and Kayla.
They have been respectful by being polite to staff and peers, following instructions,
listening carefully and always having a beautiful smile for everybody.
Well done for leading the way showing respect this week.

Duffy: KRISHNANI

Our star of the week this week in Duffy is Krishnani. She has shown respect to all of her different
teachers this week by always listening, being engaged in her learning and following instructions.
Krishnani is an excellent example for her peers as she shows respect to all the staff in
the school and those in class that are answering up. She is always polite in
class and puts her hand up when needed.

Farook: HARPER H. and SHINAV

For being so focused on being the best student you can be.
Whether that's being incredibly kind, wonderfully hardworking or following
instructions in such a way that others want to follow you.
Fabulous respect in every way.

Evans: OLIVIA L. and IBRAHEEM

My star this week is Olivia L. Olivia has been an absolute star this week
in her writing. She has shown respect in the way she has drafted work
and then and listened to adults to edit and develop her writing to create
an inspiring Beowulf diary.

Ibraheem has been nominated by Mrs Tomlin who taught Evans today; he is always respectful
and ready to learn.  Well done Ibraheem!

Shakespeare: HOLLY-MAE

She is always respectful to all the children and adults around her.
She is always ready to help and support everyone with anything the may need.

Prefects: SAMUEL

The prefects have chosen Samuel this week because he always shows respect
